LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON ASIAN AMERICAN, NATIVE HAWAIIAN & PACIFIC ISLANDER HERITAGE MONTH
Washington, DC – Today, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries issued the following statement in recognition of Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month:
Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is a time to celebrate and uplift the rich history and resilience of the AANHPI communities. Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders have made incredible contributions that have propelled our nation forward. AANHPI history is American history. This month and every month, we must stand up and recommit ourselves to combating anti-Asian hate and ensure our nation lives up to its promise of liberty and justice for all.
We also celebrate the 30th anniversary this year of the founding of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus. Over the last three decades, CAPAC has done tremendous work to champion the AANHPI community and create a Congress that is more equitable and reflective of the people we are privileged to represent. Happy AANHPI Heritage Month and congratulations to CAPAC and Chair Judy Chu on an incredible 30 years.
