REP. JEFFRIES INVITES BROOKLYN COMMUNITY LEADER TO BE HIS VIRTUAL GUEST TO PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) announced that Camara Jackson, the founder of Elite Learners, Inc. and a community leader in Brooklyn, will be his virtual guest at President Biden’s Joint Address to Congress.

“I am proud to announce that Camara Jackson will be my virtual guest to the Presidential Address,” said Rep. Jeffries. “Her work with Elite Learners, Inc. has the potential to change the trajectory of the life of a child. The COVID-19 pandemic has ravaged our City, shuttering small businesses, leaving many without employment and interrupting the education of youth and adolescents. Through the Paycheck Protection Program, she has been able to keep her employees on payroll and continue to serve our community in this time of crisis.

“Elite Learners, Inc. has been a beneficiary of the American Rescue Plan,” said Camara Jackson. “The Paycheck Protection Program has been a lifeline for Elite Learners, Inc. as the funding has been instrumental in Elite’s ability to retain staff to provide vital services to the communities we serve – children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. Much of our funding is by reimbursement, so we will not be receiving a bulk of funding until the close of the fiscal year. Mentorship is a central tenet of our organization — our work and our ability to persevere during the past year is an important quality that we continue to use to inspire our youth and their families for success. I am honored and elated to be an invited virtual guest of Representative Jeffries. A year ago, I participated in virtual community conversations with Representative Jeffries, and this invitation brings our conversations to a whole other level.  I would love to have personally been present for the address in Washington, DC!”
