BROOKLYN, NY – Today, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) issued the following statement on the Virtual Day of Action and Healing to #StopAsianHate:
“An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us. Today we stand in complete solidarity with our Asian American brothers and sisters throughout the country, and we will not rest until we stop Asian hate.
We continue to send our prayers and deepest sympathies to the families of the victims of the tragic and violent massacre down in the Atlanta metro area. We must also recognize that this issue is larger than one singular event. There were more than 3,800 anti-Asian hate crimes and incidents last year, this is a crisis of hatred.
The cancer of racism must be eradicated, and we must ensure that all perpetrators of hate crimes are prosecuted, convicted and locked up to the full extent of the law.”
