“The newly designated police commissioner is a highly respected law enforcement professional with a track record in Los Angeles of both reducing crime and having a meaningful working relationship with the community.  It is my hope that under his leadership the police department can demonstrate that it has the ability to both keep the City safe and respect the civil rights of law-abiding New Yorkers.”
