Jun 19, 2014 Press Release
“The need for increased research concerning PTSD extends to both military personnel and the broader community. High levels of violence in communities throughout America, like East New York and Brownsville, have created PTSD-like conditions for many subjected to this environment. Expanded research undertaken by the Department of Defense will benefit society and all those afflicted by this disorder,” added Rep. Jeffries.

“One of the reasons why many of us do these types of addresses in January is to lay out an agenda of things you want to work on,” said Jeffries. “It gives you, your staff and everyone around you a blueprint as to the type of issues you want to tackle, and then you can measure the progress you have been able to make at the end of the year and figure out what else you can work on to complete the things that were started and hopefully be able to point to some of the things that got accomplished.”

"Throughout America, this shutdown will needlessly hurt children, civil servants who will be furloughed and without pay, veterans who courageously served our country, seniors and countless others. The House Majority should restore government funding forthwith, come back to the negotiating table and get back to doing the people’s business, " said Rep. Jeffries.
Sep 29, 2013 Press Release
“House Republicans continue to put forth extreme legislative proposals that have no chance to pass the Senate or be signed into law by the President. The Tea Party dominated GOP has deliberately set in motion a government shutdown that will harm vulnerable children, seniors, working families and our economy. This conduct is shameful and Americans will suffer if blind ideology is allowed to trump constitutional responsibility.”
