Internships are available throughout the fall, spring and summer semesters for college students. The hours are flexible to accommodate students’ hectic course schedules, but generally take place during office hours Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
All interns must be high school graduates who are enrolled in or have recently graduated from an accredited post-secondary educational institution, college or university. We are seeking applicants with a mature, professional manner who are well-organized, efficient and self-motivated. The following internships are offered in the D.C. office:
Executive and Personal Office: The House Democratic Leader’s Office is seeking motivated, detail-oriented interns to work full-time, in-person in a fast-paced legislative office. Intern responsibilities include supporting our legislative team, administrative work, research, memo writing, event planning and assisting the Personal and Executive Office.
Press Intern: The House Democratic Leader’s Office seeks highly motivated Press Interns to work in-person in a fast-paced leadership office. Responsibilities include compiling daily press clips, drafting preparation materials for media hits and assisting with press-related events. Ideal applicants will be able to write, edit and proofread under tight deadlines, handle multiple assignments simultaneously and stay on top of the news.
New York
District interns will witness the day-to-day delivery of services to constituents and other field activities that are essential to my work in Congress. Responsibilities vary but will include research for constituents, assisting with Congressional events, answering phones, writing letters and other general office duties. Fluency in a second language is desirable, but not required.
