For too many Americans, a ticket to the middle class remains out of reach because of unmanageable student loan debt. House Democrats are working tirelessly to protect student loan debt relief for people all across the country and continue to work to provide relief and make education more accessible.
Student Financial Aid Options
Federal Student Aid provides a variety of life-changing resources that can make college more affordable. You can learn more about these programs and offerings below.
In certain situations, you can have your federal student loans forgiven, canceled or discharged. That means you won’t have to pay back some or all of your loans. Some of the most common ways to qualify for student loan forgiveness are:
- Through the Teacher Loan Forgiveness program
- Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program
- If you have a disability
- Through the Income-Driven Repayment program if you’ve been in repayment for 20 or 25 years.
