Brooklyn, NY – Tomorrow, Congressional Black Caucus Immigration Reform Task Force Co-Chairs Reps. Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) and Yvette Clarke (NY-09) will discuss President Obama’s historic executive order on immigration, issued in the face of continued Republican obstruction. 

Collectively, Reps. Clarke and Jeffries represent the largest Caribbean-American community in the country in their Brooklyn-based districts. The Presidential executive order will impact thousands of residents who trace their roots to English-speaking and French-speaking Caribbean nations such as Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados and Haiti, as well as nations such as Guyana. 

The press conference will take place inside the Shirley Chisholm State Office Building, named after the first black woman elected to the U.S. Congress and former Brooklyn representative whose mother immigrated from Barbados and father immigrated from British Guyana. Joined by leaders from the Caribbean-American immigrant community, Reps. Jeffries and Clarke will also call upon House Republicans to finish the job on immigration reform that the President has started.
