Getting a Passport
If you need a passport for upcoming international travel, don’t leave your passport application to the last minute. Processing times are currently 4 to 6 weeks for routine processing, and 2-3 weeks for expedited processing. Learn more here.
Urgent Assisstance
If you have urgent or emergency medical travel, the Department of State may be able to help you with faster than expedited service. Learn more here, or contact my office if you cannot reach the Department of State in an emergency.
Passport Renewal
Did you know you can renew your passport online? If you currently hold an adult passport which expires in the next year, or which expired no longer than 5 years ago, you can complete the entire renewal process online. Renew online here.
Smart Traveler Enrollment Program
Once you have your passport, remember to also check your destination’s Travel Advisory and enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). These free tools from the Department of State help ensure you stay safe during your travels and help your destination’s embassy staff be better prepared to assist you in case of an emergency.
Other ID
If you do not plan to travel internationally, you may be better served by a different form of ID. Learn more about REAL ID and Enhanced ID here.
