“The GOP Budget – A Partisan, Stale Manifesto”
WASHINGTON –Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8) issued the following statement today after House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan released this year’s version of the House Republican budget:
“Today, House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan released the 2014 Republican budget, “A Path to Prosperity: A Responsible, Balanced Approach.” Contrary to its title, the Ryan budget does not take a balanced approach to deficit reduction. Rather, it looks to balance the budget on the backs of children, seniors, college students, working families and the most vulnerable in our society.
Not surprisingly, the Ryan budget proposes to end Medicare as we know it and dramatically lower tax rates for wealthy Americans. We deserve better. The American people rejected these stale ideas last November and the Congress should reject this recycled partisan manifesto them once again.”
