Today, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement:

The Trump administration has incomprehensibly cancelled the bipartisan briefing scheduled today in the House of Representatives related to the situation in the Middle East. They have also failed to hold a classified Gang of Eight briefing despite repeated requests. 

What are the facts that the Trump administration is trying to hide? The American people deserve to know the truth. 

Donald Trump unilaterally used military force in a theater of war and put American troops in harm’s way without seeking the congressional authorization required by the Constitution. He misled the country about his intentions, abandoned the aggressive diplomacy that pushed back Iran’s nuclear ambitions during the Obama administration and now risks American entanglement in a potentially disastrous war in the Middle East.

The Constitution is not an inconvenience the President can choose to ignore.
