LEADER JEFFRIES ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF CONGRESSMAN STEVE COHEN TO THE HOUSE PERMANENT SELECT COMMITTEE ON INTELLIGENCE

Today, I am pleased to recommend the appointment of Congressman Steve Cohen to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Pursuant to clause 11(a)(1) of rule X, as modified by the order of the House of June 6, 2025, Rep. Cohen will serve as the Judiciary Committee representative.
As a senior Member of the House Judiciary Committee and the former Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, Congressman Cohen is committed to a strong national security architecture and the founding values embedded in the Bill of Rights. As the top House Democrat on the Helsinki Commission, he has frequently interacted with our allies throughout the world and will bring a wealth of global experience to this assignment.
Under the leadership of Ranking Member Jim Himes, House Democrats will continue to provide vigorous oversight of the Trump administration and make sure the security of the American people is prioritized at all times.
