Brooklyn, NY – Today, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8) released the following statement with respect to the ongoing conflict in Syria:

“President Obama did the right thing by seeking congressional authorization, and we must now carefully evaluate whether the use of force is appropriate.  The situation in Syria is a serious one and the use of chemical weapons, if proven, must be met with severe consequences.

Over the next few days, I will seek to determine whether the resolution placed before the Congress is narrowly tailored to protect compelling national security interests, and upon that basis cast my vote.”
