Today, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries held a press availability, where he emphasized that over the past year, Donald Trump and Republicans have failed the American people, including on the economy, healthcare and immigration enforcement. 

LEADER JEFFRIES: The state of our union under the presidency of Donald Trump is a complete and total disaster. Costs have gone up, job creation has gone down and ICE is totally out of control. Donald Trump promised that he would lower costs on day one. But under the presidency of Donald Trump and failed Republican policies, costs haven’t gone down. Costs have gone up. Life has gotten more expensive for the American people. Healthcare has been under a relentless assault, including in the One Big Ugly Bill, where Republicans enacted the largest cut to Medicaid in American history, ripped food away from hungry children, seniors and veterans by cutting SNAP to the tune of $186 billion and then they gave that money to ICE with a $75 billion slush fund so that masked and untrained ICE agents could brutalize everyday Americans and even kill American citizens. The state of our union under Donald Trump’s presidency has been a complete and total disaster, and the American people know it.
