Today, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement:

For over three decades, Congressman Gerry Connolly has tenaciously served the hardworking people of Northern Virginia with integrity. 

As a Subcommittee Chair and now Ranking Member of the Oversight Committee, Gerry has defended our Democracy and strengthened our institutions and cybersecurity. As a former Senate Foreign Relations Committee staffer, he has also carried his international expertise into the People’s House, serving as the President of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Parliamentary Assembly, where he has done tremendous work to strengthen our commitment to the transatlantic alliance.

During the recent unprecedented attacks on federal employees, Gerry has been a relentless advocate for the incredible civil servants who make up the backbone of his district’s workforce.

Gerry has had a remarkable career in the Congress, and I join the entire House Democratic Caucus in praying for him and his family as he confronts this difficult diagnosis.
