Dear Colleague on Trump’s First 100 Days in Office
Dear Colleague:
I write as we enter a pivotal moment in our effort to stop the reckless Republican budget. House Democrats remain strongly opposed to the GOP plan to enact the largest cuts to Medicaid and food assistance in American history. We will continue to push back aggressively as Republicans attempt to jam this toxic legislation down the throats of the American people.
This week marks 100 days since the new administration began. Donald Trump and Rubber Stamp Republicans in Congress are crashing the economy, driving us toward a recession and assaulting the American way of life. On Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m., I will deliver a speech talking to the country about the first 100 days and outlining a blueprint for a better America. Additional details will be forthcoming to anyone interested in attending.
Over the last two weeks, House Democrats have been active in every corner of America and around the world. Thank you for your leadership in holding and participating in hundreds of events in connection with the Cost of Living, Medicaid and Social Security days of action. Republicans are running away from their constituents. House Democrats will continue to embrace them.
I look forward to our important work together during this critical legislative work period.
Sincerely,

Hakeem Jeffries
Democratic Leader
