Dear Colleague:

I write with respect to the illegal Trump administration order purporting to freeze federal taxpayer funds that have been lawfully appropriated by Congress. 

Republicans are ripping off hardworking Americans by stealing taxpayer dollars, grants and financial assistance as part of their corrupt scheme to pay off billionaire donors and wealthy corporations. The Republican Rip Off will raise the cost of living for the working class, while hurting children, seniors, veterans, first responders, houses of worship and everyday Americans in need. 

We will convene an emergency meeting of the House Democratic Caucus tomorrow, January 29 at 1:00 p.m. EST in response. At the meeting, we will discuss a comprehensive three-pronged counteroffensive anchored in: (1) an appropriations strategy; (2) a litigation strategy; and (3) a communications strategy. In addition to leadership, presentations will be made by top Democrats on Appropriations, Oversight and the Policy & Communications Committee. All members should also prepare to participate in a Day of Action during this district work period. 

The Republican Rip Off is an unprecedented assault on the Country, the Constitution and the Congress. Millions of Americans will be hurt. By necessity, we will combat the extreme funding freeze with a forceful response on all fronts.
