WASHINGTON, DC – Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement after President Biden’s 2024 State of the Union Address. 

Last night, President Biden delivered a powerful message of unity and a clear vision for the future. Over the last three years, we have made incredible progress, emerging from the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic as the strongest economy in the world. President Biden has a plan to build upon the progress that has been made and finish the job for the American people. 

President Biden and Democrats will move the country forward and grow the middle class. The twice-impeached former president and extreme MAGA Republicans are trying to turn back the clock. 

Under the leadership of President Biden, we will lower costs and build a healthy economy for everyday Americans. We will protect Social Security and Medicare. We will defend democracy. We will protect a woman’s freedom to make her own reproductive healthcare decisions. We will finish the job on behalf of the American people.
