Leesburg, VA – House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement after the Senate voted to advance consideration of the comprehensive national security supplemental:

The strongly bipartisan and overwhelming Senate vote to consider comprehensive legislation that addresses America’s national security interests in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and the Indo-Pacific region is an important step forward. Congress must work together in the next few days to advance legislation that supports our close, democratic allies like Israel and Ukraine, as well as provides humanitarian assistance to civilians in theaters of war like Gaza throughout the world. 

Upon our return to Washington next week, the House must move to consider parallel national security legislation immediately. The time has come for Extreme MAGA Republicans and the Pro-Putin Caucus to end the political stunts and come together in a bipartisan manner to support America’s national security priorities. House Democrats are prepared to use every available legislative tool to make sure we get comprehensive national security legislation over the finish line.
