WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement after President Biden announced his budget for FY 2024. 

The President’s FY 2024 budget lowers costs for working families, strengthens in the sustainability of Medicare and Social Security and reduces the deficit by nearly $3 trillion – all without raising taxes on everyday Americans. President Biden’s plan will protect Medicare for another generation, ensuring that millions of Americans can retire with grace and dignity after a lifetime of hard work. 

While the President has clearly laid out his vision, extreme MAGA Republicans continue to hide their plan from the American people. Republicans are scheming to cut Social Security, end Medicare as we know it and raise the price of prescription drugs while handing tax breaks to the wealthy, well-off and well-connected. 

Our plan is out in the open. The extreme MAGA Republican budget plan remains in the witness protection program. Under the leadership of President Biden, House Democrats are putting People Over Politics and growing the economy from the middle out and the bottom up.
