Brooklyn, NY – Today, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement after the City of New York announced it will settle in the case of Floyd, et al. v. City of New York, et al.,:

“The era of stop and frisk excess is finally coming to an end.  In a democracy, there must be a balance between effective law enforcement activity on the one hand, and a respect for civil liberties and the Constitution on the other.  The prior administration failed to respect that balance.  Thankfully, our new Mayor understands that strengthening the relationship between the police and the community will yield continued gains in the effort to further improve public safety.”
