Five Congressional Members Ask Army Corps to Extend Comment Period for Sandy Recovery

BROOKLYN, NY –  More than four years after Superstorm Sandy touched down in many areas of New York, decimating the city’s homes, businesses and shoreline, five members of Congress have asked the Army Corps of Engineers to give citizens an opportunity have a stronger voice in the recovery and resiliency effort. On the cusp of the deadline set by the Army Corps of Engineers for comment on the Draft Integrated Hurricane Sandy General Re-evaluation Report, U.S. Reps. Hakeem Jeffries, Jerrold Nadler, Nydia Velazquez, Gregory Meeks and Yvette Clarke and have asked Colonel David A. Caldwell, Commander of the Army Corp’s New York District, to extend the comment period on the Draft Reformulation Plan by at least 60 days.
